NEW STRENGTH

I love this time of year! The warm days with cool breeze, the fresh smell of new life as the flowers and trees flourish.. It is incredibly refreshing! However as we ramp up towards THE END OF THE YEAR, this season can also be incredibly busy and so overfull with activity that we just dont take the time to stop and smell the flowers. We get so exhausted that even the smallest decisions become earth-shattering!

What do you do when you are particularly tired or weary?
Take a moment to think about this question! Selah…
Write the answers down.

These answers will reveal a lot about your heart and what you seek. For example do any of the following responses look familiar?
When I am tired or worn out:
• I eat more
• I play a Game
• I watch a movie
• I talk about it
• I sleep
• I look for what I can drop

Whilst spending some time with God, seeking wisdom in a particular period of fatigue, I came across these verses in Isaiah. God gives us some different advice on how to recover or find new strength… Revealing that our ways of recovering may often give us an opposite result to what we expect!

Isa 40:28
28 Have you never heard or understood? Don’t you know that the LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth? He never grows faint or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. 29 He gives power to those who are tired and worn out; he offers strength to the weak. 30 Even youths will become exhausted, and young men will give up. 31 But those who wait on the LORD will find new strength. They will fly high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint

This is an incredible verse that encourages you as much as it challenges you! Yet, you must remember, the promise is for those who wait on the Lord!

SO, what does waiting on God look like for you?
Take a moment to think about this question!
Write the answers down.

Now is a good time to compare your 2 lists! They give you a snapshot of the 2 different directions you can take in seeking refreshment. Either way, the direction is your choice.

God gives us a promise, that if we seek him, we will be refreshed and strengthened. Do we believe his promise and trust him to do what he says?
If so, stop seeking the rest that your body craves and start seeking the rest your Creator designed specifically for you!
