God is interested in using YOUR gift
The arts are a powerful method of communication! A skilled artist can bypass intellect and go straight to the heart! We have all experienced Movies and songs that make us laugh, cry, sympathize and think, and We have also experienced Movies and songs that make us cringe!!, Mostly because they are poorly made.
Way too many times, have I seen a great idea killed by poor execution!
Likewise, People receive Dodgy philosophy, Bad life style advice, and poor life style examples
because they are presented skilfully! For example SEX IN THE CITY has discipled a whole generation of women to use sex as a tool to assert their power. Women receive it without question because it is skilfully and attractively made!
In Exodus we read that Aaron was chosen by God to serve moses BECAUSE OF HIS GIFT!
He was a skilled Communicator, and that brought CONFIDENCE!. Confidence that moses lacked! Aaron was used by Moses to bring clarity and confidence to the message delivered to Pharaoh.
A man that believed he was a god, but also a man that did not know the one true living GOD
Would you feel confident if GOD asked you to challenge the President of America!
What would even get you through the front door of the white house??
do you see a man SKILLED IN HIS work? he will serve before kings; he will not serve before obscure men. proverbs 22:29
Truth is the world values SKILL very highly. in-fact the world idolises SKILL and listens very intently to skill-full people..
We have 2 important lessons to learn from Aaron’s use of his gift in exodus
1. in Ex.7 we see GIFT IN SUBMISSION -
Aaron’s snake consumed the magi’s snakes - Demonstrating Gods authority and favor.
His gift excelled over the Pharaohs Magicians demonstrating Gods Power in his people..
Ultimately, after many displays from him and Moses, leading the Pharaoh to release Israel..
2. in Ex. 32 we see GIFT IN REBELLION -
Aaron built the Golden Calf that miss lead the nation -
It was not Aaron’s idea to build the Calf but he gave into pressure from the people!
He then used his gift to please the people rather than point them to God.
And helped them fall into condemnation!
We have a mandate to demonstrate Gods Favor!
We are the vessels chosen for the purpose of honoring GOD… We have a responsibility to excel in our Gift, above those who use their gift for the world. And whilst we seek to excel in our gift we must ensure it is submission to Gods will and purpose..
Our Gift can be a powerful tool to;
Miss Lead (away from God)
or to LEAD (towards God)
