ACCWM fieldworkers in Manila, Mark (and Christine) Pedder, said that water is still 8 metres deep in the worst affected areas. People were left without water, food and power. ACCWR responded quickly with the ACCWR Re-establishment program. The Pedders were a pivotal part in implementing the Reestablishment Program assisting 100 families selected on a crisis-basis in Fairview, Manila immediately after the floods. Each family received items to get them back on their feet including a 50kg sack of rice, weekly finance for basic food as well as household goods. The relief that each family received inn many instances, amounted to more than 3 months income. |
