Our Staff, Leaders and Service Providers
SHIRELIVE// abides by the privacy policy set out by the Australian Government, Privacy Policy Act 1988. SHIRELIVE holds the responsibility of being made liable for any breaches of our Privacy Policy made by those who were unaware of our Privacy Policy. Therefore all SHIRELIVE’s employees and service providers are made aware of the privacy policy and know where to find full documentation.
SHIRELIVE// posts the Privacy Policy on the web site and informs others that they need to be aware of the details of the privacy policy, and how it affects the way they deal with information relating to people and SHIRELIVE//.
SHIRELIVE’s privacy policy, personal information (as defined by the Privacy Policy Act 1988) means information or an opinion (including information or any opinion forming part of a database), whether true or not, and whether recorded in a material form or not, about an individual whose identity is apparent, or can reasonably be ascertained, from the information or opinion.
SHIRELIVE Collecting Information
All people collecting information need to be aware of our Privacy Policy and be able to make available a copy of the policy.
All people giving their information need to be aware that we have a Privacy Policy and where they can view the privacy policy. If they choose they need to be able to go and view the Privacy Policy before giving the information (suggest have a copy handy wherever information is gathered).
All information must be received from Primary Sources, a person can not complete a form on behalf of another person without SHIRELIVE// having been given consent by the person who’s information is being collected.
We can not collect information on people under 18 years of age without their parent’s consent.
Should a person wish to access pastoral information about them, they may apply in writing to the Privacy Officer. Access to the file, in the first instance, should be done in the presence of a pastor, who can provide explanation for terminologies used.
No website administered by the Church will use cookies for collecting any detailed user information from the site. Our website does not currently use cookies, therefore we collect no information when you visit our website.
Summary of what our Privacy Policy Says:
- We collect general information from people so that the church can contact them.
- We collect also other types of information when people register for a conference or event, or participate in Church activities or complete other forms.
- We inform that we may collect “sensitive information” relevant to the services or assistance that they have requested from the church.
- We inform that we also for security and safety reasons operate video cameras within and around some Church premises.
- Where practical we make clear the reason for collecting the information at the time of collecting the information.
- We advise that we may not be able to provide access to some services or assistance that is requested as the consequence of not providing the information.
- We state that we only use the information for the purpose we disclose at the time of collection, or as otherwise set out in the Privacy Policy. We do not share any personal information about individuals with other government agencies, organisations or any one unless the individual has consented, is required or authorised by law, may prevent or lessen a threat somebody’s life or health.
- Primary Purpose: To enable the church to function efficiently and effectively and to assist the church in community activities.
- We also state we will generally only use and disclose personal information as follows:
- To establish and maintain their involvement with the church, including providing newsletters.
- To provide products or services they have requested.
- To answer their enquiry.
- To register for events, conferences or promotions.
- To assist the church to make our sites, services and products more valuable to our community.
- For direct promotion of products, and to keep people informed.
- With third parties who are to assist us to provide products or services etc.
- With different parts of the church to enable the development and promotion of other products and services and to improve our general ability to assist Church attendees and the wider community.
Access:
- Request access to their personal information that the church holds about them by contacting the Churches Privacy Officer on 9521 2933 or by mail to PO Box 186 Sutherland.
- May be a slight fee to cover costs incurred to provide the information.
- Can contact us if they wish to change any information.
- We will take reasonable steps to correct any information.
- We will delete personal information when requested wherever practical to do so.
- We may refuse requests for access to, to amend or delete information in certain circumstances, however will provide a reason why, and note on your record that you disputed its accuracy.
- The church will take reasonable steps to keep secure any personal information.
- We state that the internet is not secure, and we can not accept responsibility for security of information received this way.
- We may amend this policy, but the latest version will be on the web, and available through the office.
