THE CELEBRATION OF EASTER!

This week marks one of the most exciting and anticipated dates of the year as far as our faith goes…yes….Easter is that time when we celebrate the rising or Jesus from the grave, and all that this gives to us as human beings who walk the Earth today.  I am exhilarated by the story of the discovery of the empty tomb, I am thrilled by the subsequent stories in the Bible of the sightings of Jesus by various people and disciples who walked with Jesus.  I am totally sold out to the worship of Jesus Christ and gratefully accepting of everything that this mammoth event has left us with…the riches of Heaven are poured out on every person who decides to believe!

But first, we live through the memory of the Cross and the crucifixion of Jesus.  This week is aptly called “Passion Week” and we as Christians, when we come together on Good Friday, understand that, though it may not have been we who physically put Jesus on the cross, we feel the weight of the responsibility of this because of the separation caused by our natural “sin nature” and all that this entails in our relationship with God our Creator.

But our celebration of the victory of Jesus Christ over evil is what triumphs, and I trust that you will join us on Good Friday (9.30am Shire and Bayside) and on Easter Sunday (9.30am and 6pm) for services to remember and to rejoice over the incredible Truth of what Jesus has done for us all.

It’s not just about the mythical Easter Bunny or the enjoyment of Hot Cross Buns and an overabundance of chocolate at this time of year…though we enjoy ALL of those!

It’s about us realising that we share a common destiny, but that we also share the choice that is available to us.

Choose this Easter to believe!  Choose this Easter to understand and to be free.

See you at the weekend…let’s celebrate together!

Church happenings at Shirelive!

Hi Church!

First of all, we want to thank you sincerely for your support of the Bushfire Benefit at Shirelive last Monday.  Our church was so supportive, and we don’t take that for granted…it was a tremendously successful evening, with over $33,000 raised for the cause.  We are so grateful that you are such a committed church.  Thank you!

The launch of our new year has been so exciting so far…with Pastor Art Sepulveda bringing a fresh heart to our vision as a cell-based church, and Dr James Davis from the Second Billion Project last weekend challenging us all on sharing the Gospel with others and leading them to relationship with Christ.  We look forward in just a couple of weeks time to Brian Kluth…on Sunday 22nd March and our Saturday 21st March Kingdom Builders breakfast and seminar.  Don’t miss it…this is Recession Busting teaching at its best!

WATER BAPTISM:
This coming Sunday at our 6pm services, we are looking forward to baptizing more people, as we stay true to our commitment to making 2009 a year of celebrating water baptism in our church!  Bring friends and family, this is always a wonderful witness to the power of Christ in our midst.  If you still have not registered, please do so TODAY by calling our receptionist on 95212933.

SEE CHANGE HEALTH EVENT:
A great interview today with 103.2 FM and our own fitness specialist Sally Bray.  This event will be held this THURSDAY at Shirelive.  It is a FREE event, featuring many specialists in the field of fitness, health, and beauty…with all donations going to See Change.  Register on the web at http://www.shirechallenge.com for heaps of giveaways and the chance at great prizes…and we’ll see you there!

I Peter 1:3:

“now we live with a wonderful expectation because Jesus Christ rose from the dead. For God has reserved a priceless inheritance for His children.  It is kept in Heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.”

Have a wonderful week, church.

Valery and Michael.
